Charlotte Vøhtz

Founder of Green People

Charlotte Vøhtz first started her pioneering organic personal care company, Green People, in 1997 having moved from her native Denmark to the UK.  Fifteen years on Green People’s multi award-winning range is one of the front-runners in the organic beauty industry, with dedicated ranges for women, men, teens, children, babies and organic mineral make-up.

Charlotte’s motivation for creating an organic beauty company came from wanting to help treat the eczema and allergies that her daughter Sandra suffered as a small child.  After much personal research, it became clear that focusing on a more natural and holistic way of treating children’s allergies and skin problems was the best approach…and Green People was born. Today this motivation continues with the addition of Oy! Organic Young – a collection of fresh and funky products for teen skin, which uses only the best, certified organic, natural and fairly traded ingredients that protect and enhance the beauty of young skin.

The business has seen extraordinary growth since its modest beginnings over 15 years ago when it was run from Charlotte’s kitchen in Sussex.  Today the company offers more than 140 products, with over 100 of these Certified Organic by the Soil Association, Organic Food Federation or EcoCert.

Hannah Needham

This is Your Kingdom

Frustrated by a distinct lack of online guides flying the flag for ‘local’ Britain, Hannah Needham left a successful career in law to pursue her dream of running a web-based business from home. Joining forces with her co-founder, the pair launched This is Your Kingdom in June 2010 – a niche lifestyle website and trusted insider’s guide to the UK’s most lovely places to eat, drink, shop and sleep. Since then, TiYK has created a passionate online community of dedicated locals who enjoy sharing and discovering things to do and is regularly featured in the national press including Red Magazine, The Guardian and Essentials.

In 2011 TiYK was recognised by The Good Web Guide as one of the top 60 websites of the year and regularly receives requests to share its unique insider tips with the national press including Stylist Magazine and the Independent. Along the way, TiYK has formed long-lasting friendships with many of the small businesses it seeks to promote and regularly invites them to share their favourite things to see and do locally in return for a full accreditation.
